Minoxidil and Aminexil are two drugs which act as the competitive inhibitor of the testosterone and prevent binding of the testosterone to the receptors of the testosterone on the hair follicle. The competitive block prevents conversion of the testosterone to toxic Di-hydrotestosterone (DHT) or DHT for short. DHT causes the premature miniaturization of the hair follicle and premature death of hair follicle with consequent hair loss and baldness. Aminexil also prevents the peri-follicular fibrosis around the roots of the hair follicle thus causes the hair follicle to attain anagen phase quickly.
